‘Second Business Man’ played by Emma Murphy (2 Gifford)
Emma is playing the ‘Second Business Man’ in this year’s ‘A Christmas Carol’. She’s really looking forward to working on the play with her friends and to meeting new people. Emma is delighted to have gotten a part considering the tough competition she faced in the auditions. She’s also looking forward to a faux mustache in her character’s future.

Interview with James (first business man), played by Lana McCaffrey, 1 Sepia. Tell us about your acting experience. It started in the Nativity play, playing Mary, in kindergarten. I didn’t do another play then until 5th class in Saint Brigid's. The play in 5th class was Alice in Wonderland. I played the Cheshire Cat. What made you audition? I really like acting. But my primary school didn’t do many plays. So when I heard about the school production of “A Christmas Carol” I thought “Oh yeah! This right up my street!”.  Tell us about your role I only have one scene. But its the scene where we talk about the future when Scrooge has died. I was joking about how he is dead and how I was probably his best friend as we used to say good morning to each other.  What do you like about acting?  You know when you’re saying the lines and you feel them? Young Scrooge Claire Mulcahy is a 5th year student who is one of the many students who auditioned for a part in this years production. She explains the process of auditioning for the play as 'nerve wracking'. On the day of the audition, she and her friends picked a scene and a character from the play to portray. She chose the role of the Ghost of Christmas Past alongside her friend who played Scrooge. Despite her nerves, when it came her turn to audition she was actually fairly confident. She describes the teachers who judged their auditions as being very patient and encouraging. Claire was excited to see she got the part of Young Scrooge as 'his scenes are fun to rehearse'. She describes her character as naive, upbeat and full of Christmas spirit. However, by the time she plays her next scene Scrooge has already become overly confident, selfish and only cares about himself. Interview with Th’ Niece, played by Rachel Cozma, 3 McDonagh. Tell us about your acting experience. I was in two plays: I was a bear in Senior Infants in the Jungle Book; I was a jungle animal in "Seussical, The Musical" in 4th class. I was also a hunter in that play. I had to run frantically backstage and get changed. What made you audition? I really like drama. I want to get involved in drama stuff. So I decided I wanted to get involved in “A Christmas Carol”.  Tell us about your role I’m just the wife of Th’ Nephew. I have four lines and a song to sing. I’m singing “Feels Like Christmas”. What do you like about acting?  You get to be a whole different person. Its fun getting to see things from another person’s perspective.
